From Struggle to Self-Sufficiency: A Family Transformed by Faith
Through faith, encouragement and a self-sufficiency project, Claudiu and Corina moved from uncertainty to stability. Today, they are providing for their family, serving others and giving thanks to God for His faithfulness.7th September 2026
God’s Provision in a Difficult Season
When Claudiu and Corina Clamba welcomed their second child, Jessica, life was a struggle. Although Claudiu worked hard, his income was not enough to meet the family's needs, and much of their money went towards rent.
Living in Alba Iulia, Romania, the family faced the pressures of rising living costs and economic uncertainty. Yet even in those challenging circumstances, God had not forgotten them.
Through Mission Without Borders' Family Sponsorship programme, the Clamba family began receiving practical support, including food, hygiene supplies and assistance during difficult times.
"They had no firewood or anything that would heat their home, so MWB bought them some wood. It was a shock for Claudiu and Corina to witness that somebody they didn't even know would help them in this way."Traian, their Mission Without Borders family worker, remembers one particularly difficult winter.
Alongside practical support came friendship, prayer and encouragement grounded in God's Word.
Equipped for Self-Sufficiency
A major turning point came when Claudiu received a self-sufficiency project consisting of painting and construction tools.
Already a talented painter, carpenter and electrician, Claudiu had spent years developing his skills. The tools enabled him to take on additional jobs, increase his income and sell his artwork.
"The self-sufficiency project gave me the boost and confidence that I needed to start dreaming about the future," Claudiu says. "Before, I wasn't brave enough to think that way."
Today, he is respected throughout the community for the quality of his work and hopes to start his own business one day.
The family's financial situation has improved so significantly that they are now able to save for the future, care for their children and even help others facing hardship.
Growing Stronger in Christ
While the self-sufficiency project helped transform the family's finances, Claudiu and Corina say the greatest impact was spiritual.
Through relationships with Mission Without Borders staff, volunteers and local believers, their faith deepened and they became more connected to church life.
"They've encouraged us so much, prayed with us and advised us according to God's Word," says Corina.
Today, the family owns their own apartment, lovingly renovated by Claudiu, and their children, Lucas and Jessica, are thriving.
A Future Filled with Hope
Now self-sufficient and no longer dependent on family sponsorship, the Clambas are grateful for God's faithfulness throughout their journey.
"MWB has sprinkled our lives with long-lasting blessings," says Corina. "Our greatest wish is that other families will get to experience the same triumphs that we have."
Through Christ's love, practical support and a self-sufficiency project that unlocked Claudiu's potential, this family has moved from hardship to hope and is building a brighter future for generations to come.
