Day 2 - A pure dwelling place for God’s Spirit.

Renewed Within: Restoring the House of the Lord

Is your temple clean?

When Jesus entered the temple and drove out those who sold and bought there, He overturned tables and rebuked those who had made His Father’s house anything but a place of worship.

"My house shall be called a house of prayer, but instead they had turned it into a den of robbers."
Matthew 21:12–13 ESV

As we reflect on this moment, we are reminded that God calls us to purity of heart as well as purity of worship. Scripture tells us that when we receive Christ, we are no longer merely visitors in God’s dwelling place, we become that dwelling place.

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV

Just as Jesus cleansed the physical temple, He desires to cleanse our hearts and lives. It’s easy to drift away, allowing distractions, compromise, or hidden sin to quietly take up space where prayer and devotion should reign. Money, pride, comfort, and the clamour of life can crowd out the still, small voice of God without us even noticing.

So today, take a moment and ask:

• Is there anything in my life crowding out God?
• Is there anything that needs to be overturned/turned from?

To discern this, we must measure our lives against the Word of God, the only true standard for our hearts and actions.

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
Hebrews 4:12-13

 Let this be our prayer:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting!”Psalm 139:23–24 ESV

May we be temples that are clean, surrendered, and centred on Him — places of true prayer, worship, and holiness.

When God Makes His Home in Our Hearts

Sometimes, the cleansing God does in our hearts begins with a simple invitation—an open door, or a place of belonging. In communities supported by Mission Without Borders, we often witness how God gently restores what is broken or distant, making hearts His dwelling place. Anelia's story is one such journey—from loneliness and distance to discovering a close and personal God who transforms lives from within.
