Day 3 - True love

Renewed Within: Jesus' Teaching

 Love That Listens and Obeys

"Jesus answered him, ‘If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.’”
John 14:23 (ESV)

True love for Jesus is more than words. It is a life of obedience and relationship. In this beautiful promise, Jesus reveals that loving Him means living by His Word, and when we do, God Himself comes to live with us. This isn’t a distant presence; it is an intimate dwelling, where the Father and the Son make their home in our hearts and lives.

In the wider context of John 14:15–31, Jesus comforts His disciples on the night before His crucifixion. He promises them, and us, that the Holy Spirit, the Advocate who will be with us forever, dwells within us as Teacher and Helper who guides us in all truth. He assures us that we will never be left alone; Christ Himself is present in us through the Holy Spirit.

God’s presence is not distant or temporary; it is abiding and ongoing.

As you pause today, prayerfully consider:

  • Am I intentionally studying God’s Word to understand His will, or relying on my own understanding?

  • Am I demonstrating my love for Jesus through obedience to His word, or is there an area of my life where I am still holding back?

As we obey His Word and open our lives to Him, we experience not only God’s love but His peace, presence, and power working in and through us day by day.

Step by step

For Andrei, a teenage boy in our Family Support programme, the patient care, guidance and prayer of our family worker helped him respond to God's call. Today, he continues to grow in faith and obedience, inspiring even his mother to renew her own commitment to God.

If this reflection stirred you to live out your love for Christ more fully, you’re welcome to share it with others.
