Day 6 - The Way of the Cross

Renewed Within: Jesus' Crucifixion

The Cross: Love, Life & Daily Surrender

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23 ESV

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus’ crucifixion, the moment He bore our sins in His body on the tree so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness (1 Peter 2:24 ESV). The cross was His pathway to obedience, love, and ultimate victory over death. Through His wounds, we are healed and restored to fellowship with God.

Jesus’ call to follow Him is not only a historic event to remember once a year, but also a daily invitation. To take up your cross daily means more than enduring hardship; it is a continual surrender of self, our desires, ambitions, comfort, and pride, so that Christ’s life might shape ours.

This calling is counter-cultural. In a world that urges us to protect and promote self, Jesus invites us to lose our life to find true life in Him (cf. Matthew 16:25). It means letting go of control, trusting God’s will in every circumstance, and allowing His Spirit to lead us moment by moment.

Today, reflect on this:

  • Are you willing to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow the Lord Jesus?

  • Will you share the Gospel with others so they, too, may find life in Him?

The cross Jesus carried points not only to suffering but also to a new life in and through Him. May we not just remember the cross, but take it up daily, walking with Jesus in faith.

Letting Go

As we reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross, we see the power of surrendering to God’s will. Ivan's story shows what it looks like to let go of control and trusting God in every circumstance. In doing so, he found true life and hope for his family in Christ.

Has this reflection stirred your heart? Pass it on to encourage others today.
