For children growing up in the shadow of war, our Summer Camps can feel like a place to breathe again.
Grygoriy is 10 years old and lives in Ukraine with his parents and brothers. Since the beginning of the war, his father has been serving on the frontline. Grygoriy remembers the fear of waiting for phone calls, hearing whispered conversations, and seeing his mother cry at night.
Then came the message: his father was alive, but badly wounded.
When he finally returned home, everything had changed. His father could no longer walk or use his hands, and Grygoriy struggled to recognise the strong, smiling father he remembered.
“I was afraid to get close and I felt scared of how different things were,” Grygoriy said.
Even after his father began rehabilitation, life remained heavy with worry and responsibility. So when Grygoriy was invited to a Mission Without Borders Summer Camp, he didn’t want to go. He was afraid to leave his father behind.
Your gift today could help a child like Grygoriy experience safety, care, and hope at Summer Camp.
At first, Grygoriy stayed quiet at camp, watching the other children laugh and play from a distance. But surrounded by patience, kindness, and care, something slowly began to change.
The children sang around campfires, played soccer, fished, jumped on trampolines, and shared meals together. Through games, friendship, conversations with caring mentors, and time learning about God’s love, Grygoriy began to feel peace again.
“Thank God, our summer camp is a place where happiness and joy return,” said Valentyn, one of the camp leaders.
For children carrying fear, grief, and trauma, Summer Camp is more than a holiday. It’s a safe place where they can laugh freely, build friendships, rest emotionally, and begin to hope again.
Here, Grygoriy discovered a life-changing truth: God sees him, loves him, and has not forgotten his family.
Thanks to supporters like you, children like Grygoriy can experience a full week of safety, joy, care, and hope.
