This winter, families in Ukraine must choose between heating their homes and feeding their children. A simple Christmas food box means they don't have to.Every night before bed, four-year-old Zoryana whispers the same wish to her mum: "I want us to have a warm home, like in a fairy tale."
Zoryana's family live in deep poverty in a small village in Ukraine. Her dad works hard, but some weeks there is barely enough food to go round. Her seven-year-old sister has already stopped asking for anything, because she knows how hard things are.

What is Operation Christmas Love?
Operation Christmas Love is how Mission Without Borders reaches families in poverty across Eastern Europe each winter - with a box of food, a few treats, and the message that they have not been forgotten.
What's inside a food box?
Enough for a family to share a proper Christmas meal, and to help get through the hardest days of winter:
Essentials like oil, rice, pasta, flour, tinned meat, sugar, salt and tea
A few special treats like chocolate or sweets for the children
Activity packs for children about the meaning of Christmas
Contents vary a little by country and region.
How your box reaches a family
1. Local coordinators choose the families who need it most
Our staff and volunteers live in these communities and know the families - so every box reaches someone who truly needs it.
2. The food is bought locally
We buy items in the country itself wherever we can - familiar, good quality, and supporting the local economy.
Volunteers and local churches pack each box by hand.
3. Every box is delivered in person
Boxes are delivered directly to families or through local distribution points, with every box accounted for.
