Christmas Looks Different for Some Children

For many children, Christmas is a season filled with excitement, family, gifts, and special memories.

But for children living in children's homes in Ukraine, Christmas can be very different.

Many have faced loss, family breakdown, neglect, or other difficult circumstances. Some rarely experience the warmth, encouragement, and love that every child needs.

Give a child the joy of knowing they are not forgotten.

Making Christmas Dreams Possible

This past Christmas, Mission Without Borders visited a children's home in Ukraine to bring something special to the children living there.

On a Christmas-decorated stage, people dressed as characters from the Christmas story stand around a narrator who is holding posters depicting scenes from the Nativity.
"The play was about how the heart was sad at first, but then it started to rejoice when it heard the story of Jesus." Khristina

Through a Christmas play called The Secret of a Happy Heart, the children heard the story of Jesus' birth and discovered that true joy can be found in Him. They laughed, sang, received sweets, and spent time with people who genuinely cared for them.

One young girl, Khristina, was especially touched by the experience.

For children like Khristina, these moments mean so much more than a gift or a fun day. They are reminders that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.

Two girls sit on a bed surrounded by sweet packets, hugging each other while each holds a packet of sweets.

Mission Without Borders' Christian Outreach Coordinator, Inna, explains: "I want to bring them fun and joy. This helps to give them the strength they need to keep going."

This Christmas, you can help bring the same hope to more vulnerable children. Your gift will help provide Christmas programmes, caring support, practical gifts, and opportunities for children to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Together, we can help children experience the joy of Christmas and discover the hope that lasts long after the decorations have been packed away.

For a child without parents, a Christmas gift is more than a treat. It's a reminder that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.
